NCSC Clarifies Status of Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) clarifies that the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) is still under the administration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and has not yet been officially transferred to NCSC.

While the NCSC may refer potential qualified grantees, all validation, payout, and monitoring of the program are still being handled by the DSWD. The public is advised to contact DSWD Field Offices or their local Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) for immediate assistance.

The NCSC looks forward to the formal turnover of SPISC. Once completed, the Commission will issue a necessary announcement to ensure proper communication to all its stakeholders.

In the meantime, the NCSC continues to fulfill its mandate under RA 11350, including the implementation of the Expanded Centenarians Act (ECA).

The public is encouraged to refer only to official NCSC announcements for accurate updates on programs and services for senior citizens.
