NCSC Data Managers Trained With 2-Day Elderly Data Management System Workshop

To improve programs for Filipino senior citizens, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) conducted a two-day training on the Elderly Data Management System (EDMS) from 30 - 31 July 2025 at NCSC Central Office, Quezon City.

To improve programs for Filipino senior citizens, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) conducted a two-day training on the Elderly Data Management System (EDMS) from 30 - 31 July 2025 at NCSC Central Office, Quezon City.

The EDMS was developed as part of the implementation of the Republic Act 11982, the law that created the Expanded Centenarians Act (ECA). This system aims to ensure efficient tracking, validation, and delivery of benefits and grants for older persons.

More than 60 participants from various NCSC regional offices took part in the training, both face-to-face and virtually.

Also engaged in the discussion were NCSC Chairperson and CEO Dr. Mary Jean P. Loreche, Commissioner Ricardo Rainer G. Cruz III, and Gen. Melquiades L. Feliciano.

The training was led by the Commission’s Information Management and ICT Division, with Social Pension and Benefits Division (SPBD) Head Ms. Nolibelyn Macabagdal and Consultant for Organizational Development Mr. Rollo Alarcon as resource speakers.

The workshop focused on familiarizing the new digital system, which is being used in collecting and managing senior citizens’ information efficiently and transparently.

NCSC personnel were also capacitated on the use of EDMS for eventual cascading to LGUs and reminded them of its protocols to improve planning and decision-making for elderly programs.

Additionally, participants were introduced to the Local Registry Information System—a user-friendly platform that supports LGUs in collecting, updating, and managing data of seniors in their communities.

For the next steps, NCSC will select pilot areas and further train key personnel to guide the system’s rollout in provinces and municipalities.

This initiative highlights the NCSC’s commitment to data transparency and improved services for all Filipino seniors.
