The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) marked a historic and meaningful milestone on 04 July 2025, with the official inauguration and blessing of its first-ever owned office building, situated in General Santos City.
This landmark achievement was made possible through the generous funding support of the Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, whose advocacy for the welfare of senior citizens has consistently translated into concrete programs and facilities.
NCSC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Jean P. Loreche, delivered a message highlighting the significance of this milestone. She described the event as both timely and transformative, ensuring that Filipino senior citizens are recognized, cared for, and served with dignity, compassion, and integrity. She also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and people-centered governance.
The event was led by Commissioner Edwin G. Espejo, whose leadership and support were instrumental in the establishment of the first NCSC office in Region 12. His commitment and collaborative efforts contributed significantly to turn this vision into reality.
Also present to support this undertaking were Commissioners Enriqueta Rodeles and Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III, who expressed their full support for the new office and reaffirmed the Commission’s role in fostering social inclusion, empowerment, and development for the elderly sector.
The inauguration was likewise graced by key leaders of General Santos City, including Mayor Hon. Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, Congresswoman Shirlyn Bañas, Barangay Captain Hon. Eliseo Rock Garay, and City Councilors Michael Pacquiao and Bobby Pacquiao. These officials conveyed their continued commitment to support the NCSC and its programs, recognizing the vital role the Commission plays in the lives of senior citizens in the region and the whole country.
The event was further highlighted by the active participation of OSCA Heads from various cities in Region 12, NCSC staff from both the Central Office and Region 12, focal persons, and partner stakeholders—all of whom are essential in strengthening the Commission’s presence and impact on the ground.
Through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the first-ever owned NCSC office building in the Philippines, lays the foundation for the Commission’s nationwide expansion and institutional development. It represents a new era of public service that is closer to communities and more responsive to the needs of senior citizens.
With the unified support of national leaders, local government units, and civil society partners, the NCSC remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that no senior citizen is left behind.
