Ormoc City Champions Senior Citizen Well-being with Launch of Comprehensive SC3C Services and Centenarian Act Distribution

In a powerful demonstration of its unwavering commitment to the elderly, the City Government of Ormoc, in collaboration with the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Regional Office VIII, proudly unveiled a holistic and community-based approach to senior care, adding comprehensive services and programs to its established Senior Citizens Community Care Center (SC3C). This initiative underscores the city's dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its senior citizens, ensuring their dignity, health, and social connectivity.
The event commenced with the enthusiastic registration of attendees, seamlessly integrating the beneficiaries of the second batch of cash gift distribution under the Expanded Centenarian Act. This program, a testament to the nation's profound respect for its elders, honored those reaching the remarkable milestones of 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 years.
Officer-in-Charge and Commissioner Member IV Dr. Mary Jean P. Loreche delivery of a powerful, uplifting message with video presentation, both empowering seniors with the certainty of prompt and attentive care for their rights, health, and needs, and implored the government to steadfastly continue its vital work in prioritizing the well-being of its elderly citizens.
Adding to the event's significance, NCSC Commissioners Enriqueta R. Rodeles, Reymar R. Mansilungan, and LetGen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III delivered impassioned speeches. They emphasized the pivotal role of a fully operational SC3C in Ormoc, marking a watershed moment for both the city and the wider region in their collective endeavor to support the elderly.
Ormoc's SC3C stands as a beacon of comprehensive care, offering a diverse array of services tailored to enhance the lives of senior residents. From the issuance of OSCA IDs and celebratory birthday surprises to essential personal care services like haircuts, massages, manicures, and pedicures, the center addresses both practical and personal needs. Furthermore, it provides medical check-ups and dispenses vital medicines and vitamins, ensuring the health and well-being of its beneficiaries. Recognizing the importance of social engagement, the SC3C also features an entertainment area equipped with board games like chess and checkers, fostering camaraderie and mental stimulation.
The event culminated in the distribution of cash gifts to 83 beneficiaries of the Expanded Centenarian Act, a moment further dignified by the presence of Hon. Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez, Mayor of Ormoc, and her husband, Hon. Richard I. Gomez, Representative of the 4th District of Leyte. Their attendance underscored the city's unified commitment to its senior citizens, solidifying Ormoc's position as a model of compassionate governance.
